Storefront search continues
Aug 08Hey folks,
We want to remind all our friends out there that we are still looking for a place to call home. Many of you remember the storefront we had on West Baltimore St, and how having a permanent storefront allowed us to be open for shopping once a week, and for donations twice a week. We’d love to be able to do that again, but we need your help. And the BIG news is, we have received a $10,000 grant specifically to use at a storefront, but we have to have a spot chosen and lease drafted THIS MAY!
Here are ways you can get in on the action:
- If you have property in the city and want to rent it out to an awesome nonprofit, we want to hear from you!
- If you know of a property that looks like it might be suitable for us, and (more importantly) you know who owns it, we also want to hear from you.
- If you want to help fund us so we can afford awesome things like storefronts, click on that donate button on the right. Get in touch with us first if it is a large donation amount or you want it to go specifically to the storefront fund.
All storefront related correspondence should be directed to Bonnie at bnordvedt@baltimorefreestore.org.
Thanks!
Give what you can, Take what you need.
Jul 31This month has been great for BFS! Between our huge 3-day Artscape Free Market, and our participation in Forest Park’s Community Fun Day, we’ve given away well over $10,000 in donated goods this July. With all volunteers. As we plan our next Free Markets and special events (we have a good one coming this fall…stay tuned!) we are looking for new folks to partner with us as volunteers. If you are interested in hearing more, email us at volunteer@baltimorefreestore.org, or come to this Saturday’s all-volunteer meeting at Clay Pots – 1635 W. Pratt Street from 10:30am – 12:30pm.

Welcome to our new website!
May 12Back in April, we were among several non-profit organizations in Baltimore selected to be part of Web Slam, a contest pitting teams of talented high school students against each other to create the coolest website around. Our team of Digital Harbor students took our ideas and crafted them into a modern, funky, and informative web home.

We worked hard for (almost) 24 hours straight.
We started with a nutritious breakfast:

Then we stared intently at our computer screens:

We debated the finer points of web design:

We wondered when lunch would be served:

After filling our bellies, we marched on:

By the end of the day, we had made quite a mess:

And, of course, this beautiful website.
We were floored by how dedicated, enthusiastic, and talented our team was. Thank you for all your hard work!
